The Almense Dorps App (“the App”) is provided by Socialtec BV, based in the Netherlands. This privacy policy describes what data we collect, why, and how we protect it.

1. What data do we collect?

Account data (required)

  • Email address — for login and account management. Only visible to you.
  • Name — visible to other users in your community.
  • Township/village — to connect you with initiatives in your area.

Profile data (optional)

  • Profile photo — stored in secure cloud storage.
  • Short bio — visible on your profile.
  • Skills — to match you with suitable initiatives.

Usage data

  • Initiative participation (sign-ups, tasks).
  • Messages between users (private, only visible to participants).
  • Thank-you notes and recognitions received from other users.
  • Community survey responses (anonymized for research).

Technical data

  • Push notification tokens — to send notifications.
  • Device information on crashes — via Sentry, for resolving technical issues.

2. What data do we NOT collect?

  • GPS location or real-time location data
  • Phone contacts
  • Financial or payment data
  • Health data
  • Advertising IDs or tracking cookies

3. What do we use your data for?

  • Operating the App (login, profile, initiatives, messaging).
  • Sending relevant notifications (new initiatives, thank-you notes, reminders).
  • Sending email reminders (if enabled in your settings).
  • Scientific research on social cohesion (anonymized, survey data only).
  • Improving the App (crash reports, error analysis).

4. Do we share data with third parties?

We do not share your data with third parties for commercial purposes. We use the following services for App operation:

  • Supabase (database and authentication) — EU-hosted
  • Postmark (email notifications) — processes only email address and message text
  • Expo (push notifications) — processes only device tokens
  • Sentry (crash reporting) — processes anonymized technical data

5. How do we protect your data?

  • All communication uses encrypted connections (TLS/HTTPS).
  • Passwords are not stored — we use email-based login codes (OTP).
  • Database access is secured with Row Level Security (RLS) — you can only view and modify your own data.
  • Profile photos and images are stored in secure cloud storage with access control.

6. How long do we retain your data?

  • Account data: as long as you have an active account.
  • Messages: as long as the conversation exists.
  • Survey responses: for the duration of the research (anonymized).
  • After account deletion, all your personal data is removed. Anonymized research data may be retained.

7. Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to:

  • Access your data
  • Correct your data (via the App)
  • Delete your account and data
  • Object to processing
  • Data portability

8. Changes

We may update this privacy policy. Significant changes will be communicated via the App.
